Jaded Blossom Guest Designer December 2016

Welcome crafty friends! Jen here from Cr8tive Chix with an adorable project! I couldn't be happier to be chosen as a guest designer for Jaded Blossom for the 2nd year! I'm in excellent company and the design team and guest designers know how to craft!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, or Hanukkah if you're still celebrating!

My Godson/Nephew, Brandon is celebrating his 5th birthday today, Happy Birthday Bran! So I ask my BFF Shannan what does Brandon like? She tells me that Brandon loves Paw Patrol, Thomas the Train, Legos, Pirates and Pete the Cat. Brandon's mom does not like Paw Patrol, so I opted for Pete the Cat to make some fun treats for his classmates.

Pete the Cat is a children's literary character, according to my BFF "He's like the Cheech & Chong of Children's literature", and "Pete always looks halfway stoned". LOL! So without further ado, I bring you my project.

Here's a close up of the candies (Hershey Kisses Party Bag)

Happy Halloween Birthday Shannan!

Well it's that time of year again! My BFF's Halloween Birthday! This year, I have learned how to make a pop and twist card. They are so neat and fun to make (twice). My mom's bad dog Ruby ate my first one. I suppose I should thank her for allowing me to practice, right? LOL! I cannot be the only crafter out there that tries to outdo themselves, can I? Every year I try to make her a card better than the year before. So without further ado, I bring you Shannan's Halloween Birthday card!

Rose Shaker

Today I'm sharing a thank you shaker for our resident floral groundskeeper at work. Patty takes care of the the plants and roses in our wedding garden. Well if you know Vegas weather, we get weeks on end of high temps in the 110's. While Patty was out on leave for surgery the person taking over placed rocks in the rose garden, which caused them to fry the roots and it also makes for upset brides. I called Patty a few weeks ago and asked her to meet with the bride and myself to see what, if anything could be done to get the roses looking like they did in the spring when she signed her contract. After two days of searching local nurseries and some phone calls to her floral contacts, she finally procured some gorgeous roses to save the day and had the rock taken out and replaced with mulch, when they did this we also discovered we had rose grubs. Now everything is pristine for the bride's BIG DAY on Saturday. I made her this pretty shaker card as a way to say thank you!

August Banner

Hello Friends!

It's a beautiful day in the desert today! It seems that the rains have cleaned the smoke filled air that lingered here last week from the California and Arizona fires. I wanted to share my very first banner with you. Much love and respect to my fellow crafter Katie Miner whose monthly banners are my inspiration.

For those that don't know about me, my passion is events! I have a new job as the Special Events Marketing & Event Coordinator for the Oasis Special Events Center. I've been planning to make a banner for a while now, the hard part for me was to come up with something relevant for August in my field. After some research I learned that August is National Picnic Month.

Ignite 2016! The Best Week of Summer!

Every year I make a week's worth of cards for my daughter to open each day while she's away at church camp. She is on the green team, in case you were wondering why all the cards were green. My 5th card will be delayed in posting, but the first 4 days are ready to be presented. Camp is Monday through Friday and they have "holidays" each day they are there: Unibrow Day, Fast Forward Day (You in Future), Plot Twist Day (Favorite TV Character), Color Wars Day and Friday they come home.

Because You Matter...Mom (Updated)

Hello gardeners & blossoms! Today is my last day as a guest designer for Jaded Blossom. It's bittersweet for me because I've had such a wonderful experience. Now it's time for me to focus on graduating in two weeks.

I don't talk about my mom much, but I get my craftiness from her and I love that she's so loving and giving. She's always thinking of others and showing her appreciation for her co-workers. My mom is a hero, she is a nurse. An LPN (she says it stands for Low Paid Nurse) She's pretty funny too!

Nurse's Day is on Friday, May 6th and I wanted to show how much I appreciate her and her profession.

So I decided to change the background on the letters as it was hard to see mom. This is the updated version below. With the red shadow the "mom" just pops! I created the shadow in my Silhouette DE software and used the similar font KG PDX Bridgetown for the shadow. I made the letters to be about 1.22" or so and offset.

Jaded Blossom April 2016 Release Day

Happy Friday! It's release day! Who's excited? I know I am! Today we are showcasing the new School Designer Tapes and the freebie - Chalkboard.

While searching for my Hershey Nuggets earlier this week, I found a bag in the back of my closet with all these school supplies for a teacher. And I thought to myself that I should make a basket or two for the PTA at my daughter's old elementary school to give away to some new teachers. I need to get a second basket now.

My second project is a cute bag with a card attached using the School Designer Tapes. My daughter never had to ride the bus to school in all of her 13 years of school. Her best friend Tateonna (AKA Tati) rides the bus to school and I knew immediately that these designer tapes were going to be used to make something for her bus driver. I really think this turned out cute and would make any bus driver smile.

Jaded Blossom April 2016 Sneak Peek Day 4

Happy Spring! Today we unveiled the Cherry Blossom stamp set. I must confess that this was the first card I designed when I got my stamps. I immediately thought of my favorite couple Kristina & Major Nelson, who both work in our nation's capital...Washington, D.C. Major tells stories through his cell phone camera and yesterday was no different, he took this simple photo of the Washington Monument.

Believe it or not, my card was made before this was taken. He's my most Zen friend for almost 25 years now. I plan on sending them the card and I'm keeping the treat for myself, well because I have Hershey Nuggets somewhere in the house and I cannot find them at the time this was due so I put in a Kind Bar for this 30 day challenge I'm doing.
